Michelangelo's work in the Sistine Chapel. I've always loved the story based art you see in churches. I'm a comic book nut so I guess it makes sense. Here's a link to the site where you can view it without having to fly anywhere:

I can't imagine actually having to paint that. I have to see the whole thing at once or I lose any reference for proportions. How did he do this? Phenomenal work.
