The Nightmare Circus

This is still very much in progress. I want to make it even more detailed-full with my little critters. But thus far I'm quite pleased. Based on "The Nightmare" by Henry Fuseli. Critiques and comments are much appreciated.

  1. Very nice work Teresa, you have done a good job of keeping it true to the original and added some nice twists to go with your own ideas. I like the curvy "thing" under the bed. It goes with the hanging cloth very well.

  2. Wow, that came out really well! The effect on the drapery came out great, and the hair looks awesome. I love the idea of it being more like a show on a stage. I can just imagine the incubus dude pulling out a can and start singing with his back up horse and triceratops buddies. I look forward to the finished piece!

  3. I really like the color palette you have used here. You have a large variety of colors, yet they all go together very well. I think this is because they all have the same warmth to them. You have done a good job creating a painting that keeps the eye moving. There is so much interest everywhere you look. I cant wait to see the final version.

  4. I think it would be really cool if you did add more creatures to this. It would kind of remind me of a Bosch painting I once saw with a lot of monsters in it. All the different colored drapes are very interesting to the eye as well.
